Almost there!

Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is a final exam! Answer the following questions:

1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?

2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

I did study a little bit for the finals. I’m starting from the beginning to end of what we learned this semester.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year has been okay. I think if I tried a little harder and studied a little more, my grade would be better than what it is right now. Next year, I would review the test and quizzes over and over again.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I should preview briefly on what we learn for algebra. Maybe I could even solve some problems to get the hang of it.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)

I liked it also because the class was very funny and I was always happy while learning. It wasn't sooooo difficult and it wasn't soooooo hard

  3. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I have started studying for the finals. I have been reviewing my old notebook with formulas and I have reviewed my notes on probability.
    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
No, it wasn't that challenging for me, because I love geometry and it was really easy to remember. I didn't perform my best because I messed up a lot in calculations this year. Next year I will try my best to pay attention to the questions.
    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
Yes, I do think I need to hone up my inequality solving skills. I was never really good at calculations after calculation, so I'm going to work hard this summer to make myself better at solving inequalities.
    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I loved my this year partly because it was mostly geometry but I also liked the fact that Mr.Jobe explained everything a little more detailed. I didn't feel like I didn't understand after he explained the formula. Thank you Mr.Jobe!~

  4. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
No I haven’t started studying for the finals, but I am planning to look over my incorrectly answered questions in previous tests in the next few days.

Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
I think this year was rather enjoyable for me because I was familiar with the materials we learned about this year, and Mr. Jobe and my class mates created a very fun and pleasurable year.

The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I’ll do okay on Algebra I even if I don’t study it during the summer. Since Algebra I is mostly all about graphing and functions and I recently overcame my “function-phobia”, I think I’ll do pretty well!

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I absolutely loved my Pre-Algebra class this year! I think it was the best math class I ever had because of the fun and enjoyable environment Mr. Jobe and my classmates created for me! I hope I will be able to take my future math classes with Mr. Jobe as well!

    1. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I have already started studying for the final exam. I have studied my notes and done the study guides. I plan to keep on studying my notes and practicing some problems.

    2. Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year, some things were a challenge, but most was okay. Yes, I think I did pretty well, but I still wanted to study a bit more. I could have studied my notes and did some practice problems before a test of quiz.

    3. The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I should practice problems during the summer so I don’t forget them. If I don’t, then I will probably forget the skills I learned this year. Still, I feel pretty confident with equations.

    4. Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Yes, I liked Pre-Algebra this year. Mr. Jobe had a lot of fun activities that I really enjoyed. He thoroughly explained each new concept.

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I already have started studying for my final exam. I started solving questions and read back the question I already solved.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
The first half was good but it got hard keeping up the grade. No I didn't perform the best. I should have turned in my projects and homework in right time

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I am getting ready to hone up many skills in my math academy. I feel a little confident in equations and geometry.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Yes I loved it because the teacher was awesome and the scavenger hunt, projects were bery creative

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I have already started studying for the final exam. I did Percent of Change, Percentage, Retail Price, etc). I am planning to study other chapters that we covered in the 2nd semester too.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
It wasn’t really challenging because some of the concepts were concepts that we went over in 5th grade. Also, I have learned the Pre Algebra concepts before so it wasn’t really new. I think I haven’t performed the best because about 2 times, I accidentally forgot to do my homework. Also, I could have gotten better scores in tests, but I made little mistakes.

The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I was already looking over at Algebra in my academy. I think I need to work a little more on square roots, because they are kind of hard for me. Also,

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I liked Pre Algebra because there were fun things such as the Scavenger hunt. Also, my classmates were all kind and funny. Lastly, Mr. Jobe was also nice and funny and was good at teaching. :)

  8. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
    - I have started studying for the final exam. I have photocopied some worksheets on the parts that I am bad at. I have also started to fill out the study guides.

Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
    - I don’t think that this year was challenging for me because I think that we review a lot of the things that we have learned in 6th grade math. No, I think I did not perform the best that I could. I would have studied more on parts that I didn’t understand and look over my test and quizzes after I am done taking them.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
    - I think that I might to review what we have learned this year or study some of the Algebra stuff in advance so I won’t have trouble or get stuck in between.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.
    - I liked Pre-Algebra class this year because Mr. Jobe was my teacher. :D I liked the way how he made up examples, they were funny and easy to understand. I especially liked the review games and the scavenger hunts. The scavenger hunt was a creative way to review for that semester.

  9. I did not really start to study for the final exam. But I am planning to prepare for final exam with the study guide and with the worksheets that I did.
I do not think this year was that challenging for me. I think I almost performed the best I can in math class. What I could I have done differently is finishing all the homework in time. I lost a lot of marks by not handing in homework so I could have done homework better.
I think I have to study more in summer vacation to get confident in Algebra I. I think I have to study more because I think I need more study in math then right now.
I liked Pre-Algebra class this year because I and my class learned very fun ways such as market day project and scavenger hunt. I think both of them let us learn more and have fun, too. So, I liked this year Pre-Algebra.

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I have already started to study for the final exam. I've looked through all the pages from chapter 6 to chapter 10. I'm trying to try most of the problems that are on for each chapter so I can really prepare myself for the math final.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
Half and half. Some classes were just crazy for me; I didn't know a lot of things when other people were understanding it clearly. It was just hard, and sometimes I lost confidence when this happened. When 1st semester ended, I felt like I didn't try my best at all. So, this semester, I tried to do all I could in our math class. I think that still, the only part that I could have done differently is to review and solve problems very often.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I don't feel as that confident, but I'm not super freaked out or nervous on Algebra I either. I have a math tutor that comes to my house twice a week, so sometimes when I can't understand the homework I ask him when he comes. I am planning on having my tutor come to my house in the summer as well, so I can review with him, but usually by myself. I think I need to practice more algebra problems over the summer.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I loved it! In the beginning of the year, the first thing I was thinking when I entered this math class was 'I hate math, and I will never like it.' It's not that I like math now, but the hatred and dislike is disappearing. It's not as annoying and hard like it used to be anymore. Mr. Jobe's class was very fun and exciting to be in. He was funny ;D

  11. No, I have not started studying for the final exam yet. I plan on preparing by finishing the two study guides, and studying with my friends via iChat. I find studying with others more helpful than studying independently. Studying with others means that I always have someone to answer my questions. Two heads are better than one!

This year has not been particularly challenging for me. Mr. Jobe does an amazing job of teaching the class, and always makes sure that we understand the concepts. As for my performance, I could have been a little more focused in class. Sometimes, I goofed off a bit with my friends, and got a little off track. However, I am mostly pleased with how I did this year.

I will not be attending KIS for 8th grade, and I am not sure what math course 8th grade takes at my new school. However, I believe I still need to keep my mind active and in practice. I can practice simple calculation problems regularly.

I had a wonderful year in Pre-Algebra, and I sincerely enjoyed it. In previous years, I had always hated going to math class. This year, I looked forward to it every time. Mr. Jobe taught our class thoroughly, but in a fun and engaging way. It was a terrific class. Thank you.

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
    - I have started to study the final exam a few days ago. I have studied about the graphs. To success the final I would have to study and study, memorize the formulas and keep practicing. I really think math is all about practicing.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
    - This year of pre-algebra was challenging. However, it was really fun because of Mr. Jobe, his teaching was creative and it was very easy to understand hard chapters. If I had listened more in the class and take notes more specifically, studying for tests and quiz’s would be much easier.
    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I know the Algebra I course is challenging. I would have to go the hagwons and practice the formulas for Algebra I. As I have said, I think math is all about practicing again and again.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
    - I loved pre-algebra class this year!!! The games we played were awesome and really creative, but also our teacher, Mr Jobe was really creative about teaching us the math we needed. I was really surprised about the idea of the second scavenger hunt a few days ago. The idea was really creative. I wish I have Mr. Jobe in Algebra class next year!! This year, my math skills really has improved and I would like it to improve more in Algebra class next year by Mr Jobe. Thank you for teaching magnificantly in Pre Algebra class! :)

  13. Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is a final exam! Answer the following questions:

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I have already started studying for the final. I’ve been reviewing everything on the study guide that I need to review, and I’ve been solving problems from the book, so that I get a bit more practice. I’ve finished both study guides, and I’m making sure that I understand everything, so that I’m not worried on the exam day.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year has been both challenging, and easy, because there are lessons that I’m very strong at, and some lessons that need more work. I think I have performed the best I could have for most lessons. But for some lessons, I had trouble understanding the concept, and just went into class without being 100% prepared. However, for other tests and quizzes, I was a lot more confident and prepared. If I could go back in time, and change what I did, I’d review the lessons that I didn’t really understand and be a lot more prepared.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I need to hone up on geometry and finding area, surface area, and volume, because those lessons are the lessons I had the most trouble with. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to always have partners that understood those sections, so I got through those sections pretty easily. I hope that by reviewing every lesson I don’t understand, I’ll be able to get through Algebra 1.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I really enjoyed Pre-Algebra this year, because Mr. Jobe was a such a creative, fun, and lively teacher. He’s my favorite teacher, and I’m really happy that I got to learn from him. His class was never boring, but sometimes challenging, and I loved it. I always look forward to Pre-Algebra class. I really hope I get Mr. Jobe next year for Algebra 1.

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I started studying for the finals exams. I'm going to chapter by chapter, section by section. I'm solving questions in each section and I've been solving the study guide.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
In the years, there were challenging parts and easy things that went on. The lessons were really easy to understand but getting the hang of formulas and answering word problems were sometimes tough. I think that if I could do something differently, I would study bits and bits everyday and not study just before the quiz and tests.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think that I should do a little but of pre-studying for Algebra next year. I'm not that confident about my mathematics so I need to build up more skills!

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Pre-Algebra is one of my favorite classes this year, not because I'm good at it but because it's really fun and we have a really creative and fun teacher (Mr. Jobe :D). The examples for each chapter was really creative and was easy to remember in my head.

  15. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I already started studying for the final exam. I have done going over all the math vocabularies and concepts. I have to start solving all the examples and review more about the probability because that’s my weakest part.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year did not really challenge me. I think I did not perform the best I could have for taking the tests. While I was taking the tests, I did not double check my solutions therefore, I got so many questions wrong for calculation errors and for not reading the questions well.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I definitely have to hone up on my calculation and word problem skills over the summer. I will have to buy some basic calculation math workbooks and solve to develop further. Also, for word problem skills, I can go over my Pre-Algebra textbook again to practice for word problems.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I really enjoyed taking Pre-Algebra class this year. I do not really like math personally but Mr. Jobe was so fun and humorous during the last classes which made the classes more exciting to listen. I did not like the part for getting homework but if I don’t get the homework, I would not be able to review for the day so, I am good with that. Anyways, I was always expecting forward to enter my math classes. Thank you, Mr. Jobe!

  16. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
I have studied for finals for just one subject. I studied for Chinese test, I memorized 76 words and memorized 250 word essay. For the rest of the subjects, I am going to study them during the long weekend so I don't have to cram for it the day before.
    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
I think this year has been pretty challenging with lots of tests and project, and especially the finals. I think I am doing my best right now, because during the start of second semester, I played a lot and got low scores. : ( However, right now I am trying to raise it up and I wish I could have worked harder at beginning of the second semester.
    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I will learn some skills, since Algebra I seems to be pretty challenging course. So, I am planning to take Algebra II class over the summer, and by doing this, I think it can help the Algebra I course and next year's course, Algebra II.
    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I really like pre-algebra this year!! It was just awesome!! : ) Mr.Jobe is very funny and teach us concepts easily so that we can understand it easily! Also, the scavenger hunt was so fun and it will be one of the best thing I will get to do in math class! I really hope I have Mr.Jobe for next year too!! : )

  17. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I started studying for the final exam. I started it when I got the study guide so I know which things to study. I almost finished the first packet and I’m going to start new one.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year has been kinda challenging because sometimes I didn’t understand some of the english and math vocabulary. I tried my best and when I needed help, I asked you (Mr. Jobe) and it was really helpful.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I need to study more during the summer. I used to be good at math in 5th grade but when I went to 6th grade I start to hating math. I think it was because the teacher didn’t explain any of the math equations, just told us to do them, so that was when my grade started going down. But now I have a better grade than the one I had in 6th grade. Although, I still need to study harder and have fun in summer break too.

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Yes, I had a lot of fun in Pre-Algebra this year. Mr. Jobe described all the math problems so we could all understand. He also made stories with math in it and it was easy to learn. I really want to be Mr. Jobe’s class for Algebra and have a great math time again.

    1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself?
Yes, I have started studying for the final exam! I’m still working on it, but I’m putting some notes on note cards. I will continue to do this. On some, I will put some examples so I don’t forget.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
I don’t think this year was that challenging. Actually, it differed between what we were learning on. I think I could’ve done better by studying more for my quizzes and tests, but this year was a really busy year for me. Next year, I would like to try harder and get my grades up.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I think I might need a little bit more help. Well, I did go over almost everything in Algebra I in a hagwon, but I can forget things easily. I think our class should review the basics for Algebra. However, if I know Pre-Algebra well, it would help me in Algebra so I think I should worry on reviewing Pre-Algebra first.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
I LOVED Pre-Algebra this year!!! It was my most favorite class :) This year’s math class was really the most fun math class I’ve ever had. The classes were really fun and exciting, which helped me understand more about Pre-Algebra. I also liked the activities (Scavenger Hunt!!!) we did. Mr. Jobe helped me a lot and was really good at teaching, explaining everything with detail.

  19. 1. I have started studying for the final exam. I've looked at the study guides, went on textbooks and reviewed vocabularies.

    2. I don't think this year has been as challenging as it will be in the following years i eighth grade and high school. However, I also think I did not do my best. I could have cared about my grade more and don't forget to turn in homework .

    3. I feel confident about my mathematics. I feel the most confident on linear equations.

    4. I liked Pre-Algebra class this year. It was one of the best math courses of my life. I liked how we did variety of activities such as scavenger hunts and blog assignments not just math solving. I want to have you as my algebra teacher next year as well. :)

I have already started studying for the final. I memorized the equations for volumes and areas, Pythagorean theorem, etc.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
This year wasn't that challenging. I guess I could have performed a bit harder. I could have studied harder for the tests and quizzes so I can get better grades.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I am kind of confident about my mathematics ability but I guess I need to preview Algebra 1 over the break.

Er, sure, I've been studying for the exam, I just review my old coursework, worksheets, notes and tests/quizzes, they help to keep your brain fresh. To prepare myself, the night before the final, I shall go to sleep at 11:30 :). Plus, I enrolled myself in a tutor for a couple days.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
Not that much, sure there have been its ups and downs, but nothing real major. Coursework wasn't that challenging...But I feel like I did my best. Sure, I could've turned in my homework more.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
Definitely, I saw the Algebra coursework and just looking at it makes me think "The Heck is this?" I'm probably going to go to a Math Academy in order to have a slight foot/handhold in Algebra.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Sure, I liked it, it was better than most of my other math classes that I've attended in my school life. Mr. Jobe was nice and funny. I would like to have him as my Algebra teacher next year :P

Yes, I started studying a while ago. I finished the study guides you gave me, and I did some of the chapter reviews.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
It wasn't that challenging nor easy. It was in between. No, I don't think I did the very best than I could have. I could have studied more for the tests, and quizzes, and do my homework with more effort and neatness.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
I will need to learn Algebra through the summer break, because I am moving schools and the next school I go to is learning Geometry in 8th grade. So I would have to at least learn the basics of algebra.
    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not? (Be honest, but be respectful.)
Yes, I liked the Pre-Algebra class this year. Most of it was review, but a more challenging level of it. Also the activities, were fun, like the scavenger hunts, and such. The formulas and lessons went into my head easily, and it was a fun class!
