Invent a Review Game

Invent a new review game for the end of a chapter. How would it be structured? Would there be a clearly-defined winner? Make sure this game incorporates EVERYONE in the class, where everyone is actively reviewing the material on some level.

(This blog will be graded based upon the thoughtfulness of your answer.)

  1. This game is called The Speed Game. First of all, you make up 2 teams so that there is an equal and fair amount of students in 1 team. You may also make 3 or 4 teams if you want. Next, someone would write a math problem that covers what we learned in the chapter on the board. Next, someone says “1, 2, 3!” and one person, each in 1 team, starts solving the question. The person who gets the right answer first gets a point. After, there is a new question on the board and the next person in line starts solving the problem when someone says “1, 2, 3!”. This process continues until the end of the line. At the end, the team with more points wins!

  2. I think we should play the relay game again. It was really fun and educational. The only thing I would like to change is that we keep on answering questions. We are given 10 questions and whoever gets them right the most gets a candy (:

  3. I think Mr.Jobe can make few station in the classroom with problems for the chapter. Then we make group of 2 or three to work with and go around the classroom to solve problems in each stations. However everyone in the group has to work on the same problem and not separate the work. And the fastest group to finish it accurately gets the prize.

  4. Mr. Jobe will randomly choose from two different boxes, hat, misc. One of the boxes will have a simple equation on one of the chapters that the students learned and the other one, a word problem. Mr. Jobe will pick the amount of questions by the number of students in one team and one word question for the group to do. Each question must be finished by ONE student. She or he will not get help from others, the word problem however can be solved by two people only. The equation will be a point and the word problem three points. The reward will be something special so that the students would work really hard for such as, next test you will get a +1 or +2 There will be groups four in the game and during this game, students will need to finish it as fast as they can.

  5. In this game you will need to memorize mathematical rules. You will need to get in a group of 2 or by yourself. This game is a kind of quiz. You will need to get sheets of paper or get a small whiteboard. The teacher will write a formula, and you will have to write white mathematical rule he/she used on the whiteboard. There are 10 questions. Whoever that gets the most of the questions will win a candy.

  6. Review Game
This game is combined with the game ‘hangman’ and math. There will be groups of three, but there will also be one group of four. In each group, choose people that will go first, second and last. The group members will each draw a hangman if they get a problem wrong - a pole for the hanging, head, body, two arms, and two legs. The previous person to go will create a math question (chapter 1) for the current player. So, if the second person will be playing, the first person will create a question for him/her. If the player gets the answer right, no body parts will be drawn. However, if the person gets the answer wrong, one body part will have to be drawn. For example, if the answer was incorrect, the person will have to draw a pole for the hanging. The person who has the least body parts drawn will win. Make sure to create challenging questions to each other. The winner will get a candy.

  7. Alie Yu’s Chapter 1 Review Game

In my review game for Chapter 1 (titled Elimination), people would be put into groups of three or four randomly. The first group would be asked a math question on Chapter 1, and individually, the people in that group had to solve it within a minute. When one minute passed, they would give their answers. If they were correct, they would be finished and could relax. If they were wrong, they had to move to and become a part of the next group. The next group would be asked a question and would have to solve it within a minute. This cycle would continue, with the incorrect people advancing to the next group every time. Finally, if every group had been asked a question, and there were still some people who didn’t answer any questions correctly left, they would be asked questions until they got something right. This would provide more practice to the people who needed more help.

To determine the winner, you have to get the people who had to solve the least amount of questions together. They are given a very difficult question to solve. (Meanwhile, the other students work on classwork.) The person who solves the question correctly and shows it to Mr. Jobe first wins and gets candy!

  8. The game I came up with is called the speed race. You first divide the entire class into groups of 2. Each group receives an equation, and the groups have 2 minutes to solve the problem. Each group also has a starting number of points, which is 50 points. Every problem is worth 5 points. But, there are only five rounds. The group that earns the most amount of points wins.

  9. A possible game we could play is..
The person on the far left, top row will say a one-digit number (ex. 3)
The person behind him/her will say another number (ex. 5) and add it to the number said before (ex. 3+5= 8)
Then the person behind that person will say another number (ex. 6) and add it to the number that was just added (ex. 8+6= 14)
Then repeat number 3 until all the people in the class room calculate something. (Yes, the person in the waaaaaaaaay back will have a bit of a problem :D)

  10. This game is called “Moccer” This is how the game works. This game is a combination of soccer and math. There are 2 groups of 4. There is 1 goalie, 2 defense, and 1 offense. The 4 people stand/sit as the shape as a diamond. First, the offenses of both sides solves the 2 problems that was given. Then the offense will give the problems to the defenses.(Since there are 2 defenses, they each get 1 problem) The defense’s job is to see if the answer is correct....but they are only given 15 seconds. Then after the 15 seconds, the defenses give the questions to the goalie, and if both questions are correct, you earn 2 goals(points) and if you get only 1 right, you earn 1 goal.
After this round, the players rotate clockwise and repeat the game again. There are total of 4 rounds.

  11. To Play Kai’s Review Game. You need a Hand, Pen, And a Paper or a Whiteboard. You need at least 2 players. First the players have to play rock paper scissor. Then the person that wins the paper rock scissor gets to make up a Math question for the other players and him self. The Player that wins paper rock scissor can not make up a Question to himself like 1+1 or 0.1+ 0.1. But after making up the question you and the other players have to solve the question and see who is faster. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  12. In this game, there would be teams of two. The team would receive a piece of paper that has 25 questions on it. The questions would be different levels, and each question would be worth 1-5 points depending on the level (ex: hardest level would be 5 points). The teams would have 2 minutes to answer the questions on the sheet. Every question that was right, you would get the points. If an answer is wrong, then you subtract those points from your score. If you didn’t do a question, then you just leave it alone. Whatever team that has the most points at the end, wins. The winner gets candy or extra credit.

  13. The game I invented is called, “Ring the Bell”. This game should be played for 2 players. Between 2 players, there is going to a golden bell. So, there will be questions about chapter 1 and he/she should try to solve the question and ring the bell. If you ring the bell and got the answer right, you get 1 coin. The person who gets the most coins win!

  14. I think that the wager game will be a good game to play at the end of each chapter to review. Partners can go back and forth answering questions, so pretty much everybody gets to participate. I think the wager game is fun and we can get candy if we get everything right.

We can play seven up. we all know seven up so it goes regularly but seven people stand up ask question if the person who got chosen pick person who her or he picked and answer the math problem will come from Mr.Jobe. It will be awesome to play with our class and my friend will love it to. ^^

  16. The game I would play would have 2 people in each group. The teacher will have questions and each person will get a different question from the same level. Both of us will both have questions to solve without helping each other. After about 5 questions we will all answer the questions together and the person who got more of the questions right will win the game. Towards the end of the game the questions will become more challenging and harder. Therefore, students will be more eager to win and try harder and it will give them a lot of practice.

  17. My review game is called ‘Math Tic Tac Toe’. First, students pair up and they get a tic tac toe board and 3 decks of card - easy, medium and hard. Each deck of cards will have a math problem that varies in level. Choose who is going to be O or X. Now, start the tic tac toe. Placing a O or X on the middle requires you to solve a problem from the hard deck. Placing it on the corners requires you to solve a problem from the medium deck and finally, placing it on the rest of the board requires you to solve a problem from the easy deck. If you get the question wrong, you skip your turn. All tic tac toe rule are used in this game.

  18. My Math Game :D
First get into groups of 3 in each row (vertically) and all you need are 16 notecards, a toy rubber hammer, and a blue rectangle basket! :D
First the Judge has to right 8 mental math questions each question on one notecard and the answers on the other 8. The the judge gives the questions cards to the hitter and keeps the answer cards.

Then choose who is going to be who, between the
Judge: Person who keeps score, makes up the questions, and who
judges if you are right or wrong.

The Hitter: The hitter holds up the question notecards.

The Answerer: The answerer answers the question on the notecard.

The Winner is the person with most points and if there are two or more people with all 8 points than the people do paper scissors rock, and the winner, is the winner of the row. Same as losers, after paper scissors rock the person who loses gets hit.

If The Answerer gets the question incorrect he/she loses a point and if he/she gets the answer correct he/she gets a point. On the other hand if the answerer gets the question correct the hitter loses a point and when the answerer gets the question incorrect the hitter gets a point. When they answer all the questions then, the person in the whole row gets to each hit the person with least points in the head with the hammer each time but can only hit him/her after one of the judges say 1, 2, 3! But the person with the least points can protects himself with a math textbook by covering his head with it as soon as the person says 1, 2, 3.

Then each of the winners of the row get to each hit the teacher on the head with the hammer! XP

AND THATS THE END OF A LONG TIRING DESCRIPTION OF MY GAME! XD

  19. How to play my review game:
    * Questions - 15 questions
    Rounds - 3 rounds

    1. For the first round, you can get into groups of 3s.
    2. Mr.Jobe will give each of the groups a different problem on a paper (only one person could solve the problem at a time, others could only help by talking).
    3. Groups will solve the problem as quick as they can.
    4. When your group is done solving the first problem, Mr.Jobe will come around and check if you’re right or wrong.
    5. If you are right, then your group will move onto the next question (gets harder) and the second person will solve it. But if you are wrong, then you will have to remain on the same level and solve a different question.
    6. The game will go on until one group has finished all 5 questions and says “ We’re DONE!”.
    7. The instructions are the same for 2nd and 3rd round, but you could only pair up in the 2nd round and alone on the 3rd round.

THE WINNER WILL GET A ... candy :)

  21. This game works like bingo. First in 25 boxes put numbers 1 to 25 but not in orders. If every one is finished then teacher will put expression such as 25 ÷ 5. Then students will put paper on top of number that is the answer of the expression.

  22. This game is called Math attack, it involves splitting the class into pairs and groups of threes if there is not an even number of people in the class. Each team or pair chooses a name and randomly choosing a problem from the math textbook, a problem is put up on the board. Since each team should have a white board a dry erase marker and an eraser they start working on the problem, each of the partners cannot help each other, each solving their own problems. When the teacher says “Left!” or “Right!” the person on the left or right begins solving the problem. After a few minutes of solving the problem whether finished or not, the teacher erases the problem from the board and says the opposite side of which side was called. For example if Mr. Jobe said “Left!” when the game began he would now say “Right!”, so the person on the left should have finished solving the problem and the person on the right should now, utilizing inverse operations checking the problem and comparing their answers. If they think it is correct they write the answer and a wager on a whiteboard and raise it for Mr. Jobe to check. etc. etc.

  23. BOARD 3

    1. Mr. Jobe puts 3 white boards on the ground.
    2. He calls out a math problem or math rule.
    3. He writes fake answers on two but the real answer one one.
    4. Students can use paper or mind to answer the question.
    4. Students run to board.
    5. The last person onto the correct shape and the people on wrong boards are out.
6.People who are out can help a person in the game.
7.There can be two people that help per person
    8. Last 3 people and their helpers get candy
